About the DPRA

Douai Park Recreation Association (DPRA) is a voluntary organisation which has managed Douai Park since Douai School closed down in 1999. The ground currently hosts three community cricket clubs, a tennis club, two football clubs, and provides suitable space for regular sports activities for two local schools. In addition the park hosts a range of local community events. The ground is the only facility with junior sized pitches within a ten minute drive time.

A 99 year lease was signed in March 2012 by DPRA trustees and Douai Abbey trustees that secures the Park and pavilion for sport and recreation for the local community and this should benefit the area by

  • Continuations of available sporting facilities, which would otherwise have become unusable by both the local primary school (which has no other playing field) and the local community sports clubs.

  • Provide upgraded facilities which will attract new members to existing clubs and new sports and community groups to use the site including a disability sports group.

  • Improve the access and usability of the site. Increase the quality and range of sports provision offered to the community.

  • The opportunity of providing local businesses/organizations with sporting/social functions for their employees.
